Art Day

Last week, after making a few pair of earrings with my antique African trade beads, I decided to just empty the bag and see what I could create. I finished with nearly two dozen pair of unique earrings. Some are so unique they don't match each other in the same pair. I like that, so I don't mind offering a white bead on one side and green one on the other as a set.

I created cards for them all and dropped them off at my friend Adair's shop. She'll try to sell them on consignment for a few weeks. If we don't have success with that route, then I'll create an etsy shop where I also might try to unload some of my little paintings. Here are a few of the earrings I have made. I am keeping the brown ones for myself, and Eustacia has claimed the blue stripey pair.

That's it! With the kids away this Fall, Mom can start her own gift shop. You could definitely sell everything I've seen you make and you could round up the other talents in the area for some major home grown goodness. You will, of course need some helpers to turn out your projects or run the store, but you can be the master mind behind it all MARTHA!
I have a friend like you in my town. It is her dream to have a store like that. She is single and would need lots more income than she'd get with a start up bus. though so that's that.
I can see you thrive on this type of thing Robyn. You are inspiring! :)

Mmebenaut, we'll see how they sell. The beads aren't easy to come by and aren't so cheap—sometimes $5 a piece, so the price may cause a problem.

Shan, ooo, fun. A shop of my own.. Do you mean Martha in the home improvement sense or in the New Testament sense? hee hee

Dive, just tell the local buyers how cool they are and make them sell.

Hi Sassy. some of them are cute and some are just odd, so unlike other stuff I have seen for sale around here.

Terroni, I've never bothered with labels, but if you search "acrylics" on my page, you'll see some of my painting experiments.

Ish People

Tell an Ish person to show up around 9 a.m., and you'll see them somewhere around 9 a.m. Tell them to show up at 9ish, and you'll see them anywhere from 9:05 to 9:20. You have given them license to dilly dally, and who wouldn't take advantage of that? The other night at the big shindig dinner party, one of the drummers said the rehearsal the next morning would begin at 9ish. "I am an ish person," he says. Immediately the clanker goes off in my head--oh, good, I thought. I can deliver my daughter a little late.
