Another Monday Melee
1. The Magnificent: Name someone you absolutely adore, and tell us why.
My friend Carolyn is truly adorable, and she's about to move hundreds of miles away, something I keep pretending isn't true but now is eminent. Last week when I was very sick, she called to check on me, and several times she asked is she could get anything for me when she was going to the store. She also helped me out with some yarn I wanted for a new project. Sometimes it's just nice to be taken care of.
2. The Muddy: Tell us something about life you just don’t “get”.
I don't understand why some people take care of their property, and some people are slobs. Most of my neighbors take pride in their yards, but all it takes is that one pig who dumps all of his trash and old toys and leftover crap in the yard to make the whole neighborhood look like an episode of Sanford & Son. I guess it's no different from how people present themselves personally.
3. The Magnetic: Name something or someone good (or bad) you’re drawn to and you just can’t help it. Tell us if you want to change this or not.
I am drawn to old movies, and by old, I mean movies from the 30s and 40s. It doesn't matter what it is—if I hear that old melodramatic sound track and see that glow only a black and white screen can produce, I'm right there. And I nearly always prefer the original film to the modern remakes. Example: The Philadelphia Story=good; High Society=bad.
4. The Mainstay: Who or what is something you just can’t live without? Why?
Participating in music would be very difficult to live without. It isn't enough to listen to it. I need to play it, and if ever I couldn't, my life would be less than it is, at least at first until I could find some suitable substitute. I just can't imagine what that substitute might be. And why is that? Because participating is almost always better than observing, unless you're watching somebody ride a bucking bronco.
5. The Masquerade: Tell us something about yourself we wouldn’t already know.
I bet you don't know I can flare my nostrils. Some people can wiggle their ears, some people curl their tongues in odd ways. I can flare my nostrils. It isn't pretty.
6. The Mettle: Tell us about a time you showed courage in yourself, or tell us what you wish you had the courage to do.
I am afraid of water, like in a lake I can't see through or in an ocean that might sweep me away. But a few times I have been brave enough to go snorkeling. I have been snorkeling in Mexico and in the Bahamas, and I was proud of myself each time. Now there is something that is really better to participate in than to watch from the sidelines—or in this case, the shore.

lol I still keep in touch though and you will be able to, too, you'll see, don't worry.
In tasteful black and white with a melodramatic soundtrack, of course.
