Baseball can be so frustrating, can't it? You sit through hours of play, tense each time the opponent is at bat--in this case, that would be the Red Sox. And you're eager each time your own team has another chance to score a run--in this case, that would be the Indians.
I am not a huge baseball fan, and I typically don't like to watch games on TV. I am diligently watching the American League games, though, even if I don't always last to the final inning. I knit while I watch--last night Husband said that knitting doesn't go with baseball, but I declared that knitting goes with everything.
I much prefer being at the stadium, actually, even without my knitting. I like being surrounded by the noise and the lights and the smell of ballpark food. Slider, the Indians odd, indescribable mascot, will sometimes shoot hotdogs from a giant air gun, and you hope to catch one as it flies through the air. Being blindsided by an Oscar Meyer would be an unpleasant experience, I'd imagine.
In last night's game, the national anthem was sung by the former girlfriend of Boston's star pitcher, Josh Beckett. There is debate about whether that was just a fluke or if it was strategy, an attempt to rattle the guy so he would let a few runs through. It proved ineffective.
So, back to Boston for another game, or two. May the best team win, which I say only for the sake of blogpal Sassy. Of course, I'd prefer it be the Indians that go to the world series.

Go Indians!
And of course knitting goes with baseball, Scout.
Baseball is, after all, simply rounders played by men; over here it is just played by girls and little kids. You'll have to tell Husband that it is a girl's game, so knitting is mandatory when watching it.
I loved my first baseball game a year ago- Indians v Kansas City Royals. Of course, the Indians and the Royals were the two worst teams in the league at that time. Look how far the Indians have come since I bought and started wearing my Indians t-shirt!
Don't know much about baseball i'm afraid.
GO TRIBE
GO TRIBE
We have a Red Sox fan in our house for 4 days, so it's getting interesting to say the least! Since Brett is from New Hampshire, he's a fan of the Patriots and Red Sox. Blah!
PF
Now, though, my loyalties lie with the Yankees, courtesy of Hubba-hubba. And those Indians had better send the Sox packing!
As a matter of fact, their are lots of knitters in the stands at Fenway. Look for them tomorrow night when they put the camera on the fans. There's actually a whole section of seating designated "knitter friendly"
As for who wins - i love baseball but I don't care who wins. I think the Indians will win in seven.
Could Manny be any more cocky???
Now...football...totally different story.
Ms Mac. I remember when you saw the Indians. I'm sure their win is due to your wearing the shirt.
Lynn, we've heard a bit about the rugby game here, but it's overshadowed by our own interests. Like always.
PF, so do you all sit around and watch games together?
Gina, we've got two more chances to send them packing.
Rich, I'll look for the knitters' box. Maybe I should establish one of those at Jacobs Field.
Maria, I have almost dozed off when the seats were way at the top and I could barely see the field. I know the feeling.
Go Rockies!!! :)
Cabacurl, welcome. I was once a lapsed horn player myself. Dig that thing out of the case, oil the valves, and play!
