Monday Melee

OK, I haven't done a melee in a while. I'm due. The thing seems to be to answer these questions with lyrics, but since most of what I listen to is lyric-free, and I don't know how to type out a hummed horn part for Beethoven, I'll just use regular words. It's a shame.

1. The Misanthtropic: Name something (about humanity) you absolutely hate.
I hate that we have the attention span of a rabbit. And I hate our tendency to be more interested in insignificant bits of information like who's been arrested for drunk driving than about the serious goings on in the world.

2. The Meretricious: Expose something or someone that’s phony, fraudulent or bogus.
White bread.

3. The Malcontent: Name something you’re unhappy with.
I'm unhappy that I don't have maid service at home. That's one of my favorite parts of being on vacation--someone to hand me clean towels, someone to vacuum while I'm out, and someone to leave a nice little piece of chocolate on my pillow before bedtime.

4. The Meritorious: Give someone credit for something and name it if you can.
Mikaila, a little 2-year-old girl I know who can talk in complete, coherent sentences. Having a conversation with her is like talking to a grown up, only more pleasant. Plus, she hugs. What a kid.

5. The Mirror: See something good about yourself and name it.
I have a nice smile, I've been told, and I can knit a sweater in about a week. I'll show it later when I finish it off with a proper button.

6. The Make-Believe: Name something you wish for.
I wish to witness a meteor shower. I saw a single streak in the sky the other night, and I was reminded that I have missed every meteor shower to have made its way to my part of the world. It's always either too cloudy and raining, or we're blanketed with fog even a bat couldn't navigate through.

Yes, a maid service. I could so get into that.

I would love to never have to mop a floor or clean a toilet again.

I was meant to be Prince Charles' sister. I can feel it in my bones. I have royal bones that were not meant to live in 3 digit summertime Nebraska, wearing the humid air on my skin and cleaning bird cages and bathtubs.
Ok since you can knit a sweater in a week and fall is quickly approaching, I'll be in need of a sweater. I like a nice pullover preferably Green to match my hazel colored eyes. Can I expect it by Labor Day?

I once got my daughter up at 2:30 in the morning to watch one of the meteor showers the astronomers said would be amazing... IT WAS! There were so many meteors my neck hurt. I wish that for you too Robyn.

I haven't seen a meteor shower either, Robyn. I'll join you on that one. And the maid service.

Cindy Loo Who In October

What is it with people and Cindy Loo Who? Of my last one hundred blog hits, forty have been direct visits from regular readers, and fifteen have been as a result of people searching for "Cindy Loo Who," the little pixie from Seuss's How The Grinch Stole Christmas . A couple of years ago, I posted an image of the original Seuss illustration as compared to the TV cartoon image, and for some reason, that post is bringing in the crowds, relatively. Maybe it's the weather. It isn't even November yet, and already we've had frost and have had to dust off our winter coats. When it gets cold like this, I start to think about Christmasy things like listening to Nat King Cole and decorating the tree. It's ironic because I am offended when retailers start pushing holiday stuff early, but I don't mind my own private celebrations. When my sister and I were much younger and still living with our parents, we would pick a day in July, close the curtains to darken the ...
